Recently, the China National Intellectual Property Administration released the main statistical data bulletin of intellectual property from January to February 2025. Compared to January and February 2024, the number of invention patents granted in January and February 2025 decreased by 15.93% year-on-year, utility models decreased by 2.67% year-on-year, and design patents increased by 9.34%.

According to the monthly report on examination and registration issued by the China National Intellectual Property Administration. Compared to January 2024, the number of invention patents granted in 2024 decreased by 13.93% year-on-year, utility models decreased by 4.99% year-on-year, and design patents increased by 10.69% year-on-year.

Thus, the number of invention patents and utility model authorizations has been declining year-on-year for two consecutive months, while the trend of appearance design patents increasing instead of decreasing has been achieved.
