Honda and Nissan’s Joint Venture to Break Through the Sales Slump: Can Patent Synergy Drive Market Breakthrough?

日本两大汽车制造商本田和日产于2024年12月23日宣布了历史性的决定——正式启动经营合并磋商。

这一举措不仅是对全球汽车产业电动化、智能化浪潮的回应，也是日本车企在全球市场中寻求新定位的战略布局。

合并后，本田和日产将共同出资成立一家控股公司，双方均作为该控股公司的子公司进行运营，这一模式预示着两家企业将在知识产权尤其是专利方面实现深度融合，从而在全球汽车产业中占据更加有利的竞争位置。

1. Honda’s patent strength

As of the end of 2024, Honda has approximately 24,000 valid patent families and approximately 61,000 valid patents worldwide, which proves Honda’s activeness in continuous innovation and patent applications.

Honda’s key technology areas include fuel cells, vehicle energy storage, electric traction, vehicle control, character and pattern recognition, and motorcycles. These areas have a total of 9,019 patent families, including 17,000 patents.

According to statistics from existing valid patents, Honda’s number of public patents in 2024 is 4,746, 4,096 in 2023, and 3,704 in 2022, increasing at a rate of about 10-15%.

2、日产的专利实力

日产在全球拥有接近1.2万项有效专利族，共大约3.2万件有效专利，数量上几乎为本田的一半，但专利数量并不是衡量企业科技创新能力的唯一标准。

Nissan’s key technology areas include electric traction, transmission control, collision avoidance systems, vehicle energy storage, general power units, and pneumatic power units. It can be seen that these areas form patent synergy with Honda.

这些领域共布局了4244个专利族，约1.5万件件专利。

近五年，日产汽车公司专利公开数量以约8%的比例逐年下降，截至目前2024年公开了2149件有效专利、2023年公开2456件。

本田和日产在专利数量、技术领域分布、受保护地区等方面均显示出强大的实力。

合并后，两家企业在专利方面的合力可能会进一步加强，但具体能否通过技术共享在电动汽车、自动驾驶、智能网联等前沿领域取得更多突破，以及能否通过这些带来市场竞争力的提升，是仍然是我们最关心的问题。
